Anybody else have a problem with Sidebar loading 100+ Calendar gadgets during
startup? The sidebar.exe file is dated 01/08/2008 18:04.

Right Click on Sidebar --> Properties --> View list of running gadgets
--> Remove unwanted gadgets.

Does that work/help?

No, I have the same dated file from the January update 943411 which
supposedly allowed Sidebar to block certain gadgets.
I guess you could re-install that update if Universe_JDJ's method isn't
the simple fix.

Tom.

Thanks for answering .

That doesn't work. The system freezes up after about the 4th removed
gadget. The wireless mouse and keyboard don't work. Have to do a hard boot
to re-start the machine.

Right now I don't load the sidebar at startup and things seem to work ok. I
think I need to delete/reinstall the sidebar files.

If things get desperate I may do a system recovery...

Tom: Agreed. That sounds safer than a system recovery.

At least its not sounding like a virus or something equally evil...

thanks/d

So did I. Jane C solved this in a 12/16/2007 post. Go to:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar

You should find a file named Settings.ini

The file contains the details of all the loaded gadgets. You can either go
through the file and delete the duplicate entries or just delete the file
completely and replace the gadgets. I did it each way - either way works
fine.

However, i search "c:\" and found three setting.ini, but there is no
duplicate entries in each of them......
do you have any idea? thanks a lot!
