Ahmed,
As Mike Hall has pointed out Siemens have ample opportunity during the beta
phase of any operating system to ensure that their product works with the
new operating system. If they haven't produced a Vista compatible version of
the software then they are losing money. It is, unfortunately, Siemens
responsibility, not Microsoft's, to ensure that the software is compatible.
In my original reply I asked if you had tried compatibility mode. You say
that 'this is not a good answer or solution.' Actually it is a perfectly
logical solution - that's what compatibility mode is for. I agree not every
application works even in compatibility mode, but if an application fails to
work correctly in Vista there is nothing lost by trying it in compatibility
mode. If it then doesn't work in compatibility mode you, sadly, have a
choice of either dumping the software or, as Siemens would like you to do,
by an upgraded version which will work with Vista.
Once again I agree that Vista has had hardware compatibility problems, but
again, this is a problem created by the relevant hardware manufacturer.
Microsoft give them ample opportunity to submit Vista drivers for testing
but, because Microsoft charge them for the service of issuing a Vista
Compatible test certificate, they simply 'plod' along and hope that the new
driver will work with Vista, reluctant to spend any money on official
testing of the driver, and, if not, well the customer can always blame
Microsoft.
Microsoft provide a 'compatibility utility' which will check your hardware
and software to see what is Vista compatible and what is not. Anyone
thinking of buying Vista should, as a matter of course, run this utility to
check compatibility. If the software you use on a daily basis is then not
compatible, you have been forewarned and you can stick with XP or buy a
Vista compatible version of the software/hardware. You are not being forced
to upgrade to Vista, the choice still rests with the buyer.
