This update on the Intel D975XBX2 motherboard with the latest BIOS causes the
AUDIO to completely go away. Uninstalling with the delete option and
rebooting and having the Microsoft driver re-detect the audio, then it worked
again.

Please TEST updates before pushing them, this driver doesn't work.

Hi there,

It is known amongst experienced users to never take any driver updates from
windows update it often gives results where the hardware will not function
well anymore.

IF a driver is really needed becausse the hardware does not function
properly you should obtain a driver at the manufacturers website.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Realcestmoi, the information you offered was helpful despite the initial
putdown, so thank you. Unfortunately, all of us aren't "experienced users"
and appreciate feedback from others who are having similar problems. That's
how we learn and why we search within forums such as this one for comments,
suggestions, and possible answers. Some of us novices have mistakenly
believed in the past that Windows Updates are trustworthy, having received
the advice from various "reputable" sites, (a certain, popular PC magazine
for example) and help manuals, which often state that all Windows Updates
should be downloaded.

Thank you Zeio, I appreciated your comments. Now I know that it isn't just
me that has experienced the same problem with this update, and it is not
necessarily a result of total user error.

Hi there,

There was no initial putdown just a statement of facts.

Another fact is that practice makes the master, you have practiced and
learned as I still do every day: thank God for that

So after all it is a positive event.

And you are most welcome

Best regards,
Michel Denie
