Hi,

Whatever has happened to the 'Sign In' tab in the Microsoft web page? It
used to be in the top right-hand corner, but is now no longer there. At the
moment, I am signing in when I reply to a post, but this is not as convenient
as it used to be. The 'Sign Out' tab appears as normal in the same place as
the 'Sign In' tab used to be, so I am a bit puzzled as to why it has
disappeared. Would it be possible to reinstate this tab as it would make
things a lot easier for people?

You are apparently already signed in. The sign-in button appears there
for me.

Thanks for the reply, David. If you sign out and visit the following pages
you will see what I mean. The first link is to 'Welcome to Microsoft
Discussion Groups'. On this page, the 'Sign In' tab used to be present, but
now it has gone. Incidentally, this used to be the page where I signed in
before the tab disappeared and the 'Sign Out' tab still appears in the same
place that the 'Sign In' tab used to. The second link is to 'Windows Vista
Community: Discussion Groups'. On this page, the 'Sign In' tab is present.
What is puzzling is that BOTH pages show the 'Sign Out' tab when you have
signed in, but only the latter page shows the 'Sign In' tab.

Hi David,

Thanks for the acknowledgement of the situation. What might be puzzling for
some people is if they want to participate in the newsgroups and try to do so
via the first of the links that I gave in my previous post in this thread.
They may first of all click on 'Getting started with the Web-based
Newsreader' and scroll down to the section 'Sign in to Communities' where it
says "To sign in to Communities, just click the .NET Passport Sign In button
in the upper-right of your Web browser in the Web-based Newsreader". I am
beginning to wonder whether or not this has any connection with the problem
people had with the web access yesterday (1/22/2008), especially as this
'Sign In' tab only disappeared a few days ago. See the post 'Windows Vista
discussion groups not updating on web' also in this newsgroup (dated
1/22/2008).
