The sign in for Windows Live Mail(WLM) is not for signing on to WLM but to sign on to Windows Live to make your web based contacts
and calendar available in WLM and also to provide the option use Photo Email, access your online profile and account data.
Additionally, if WLMsgr is open and using the same Live ID to sign on to Windows Live as WLM, then the mail icon(when clicked) in
WLMsgr will open WLM.
How many characters in your Live ID ?
Greater than sixteen ?
If so, shorten it at account.live.com/Change Password
Eight characters of upper and lower case letters intermixed numbers provides over a trillion possible combinations, more than
sufficient.
If you still find that a shorter password does not permit to use the Live ID to logon to Windows Live when using WLM, then you
should contact support. Your options for contacting support are shown below for WLM, Hotmail, and a Windows Live ID
All support for Windows Live Essential applications and Live Services is handled by the Windows Live Solution Center
