Sign-in stuck

A friend is using WLM 8.0.0812.00. When he tries to sign in, the sign in
process just hangs, it never signs in. We tried his userid and password with
Windows Messenger 4.7, and it signs in immediately, so it doesn't seem like
its a problem with his passport.

He was using WLM 8.0.0812.00 without any problems, just in the last week or
so he's had this problem. I re-installed WLM but this made no different.
There is no error message.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Greetings Mike,

Tell him to try this -- shut down Messenger entirely by right-clicking on its icon in the
notification area and choosing Exit, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...lmpolicies.reg

Then try signing in again.
