Hi. I can sign into messenger fine, but it kicks one of the other family
members out. It is always the same account - if he signs in, it kicks me
out. My daughter can be signed in, and we can im each other - What's the
problem? Do I need to do something to my account???

Hi Traci,

Are we talking same computer and operating system, or different computer
and different operating system? Make sure that you have different E-mail
Address associated with each Family Member, as well as a different Screen
Name.

We have 3 laptops in the house - we have 5 different screennames on MSN and
one of the operatiing systems is Vista, the other 2 are Microsoft xp. Aren't
the "screename" and "e-mail address" the same?
Thanks for getting back to me - I must've searched online for hours yesterday!

Hi Traci,

Screen name with used by Windows Live Messenger can be different from
the E-Mail Address, associated with Windows Live Messenger Account. Who is
using the Windows Vista operating system? Reason? Each User ID has a
seperate E-Mail Identity when using Windows Mail. It is completely different
from Outlook Express and its E-mail Identities. Each User must have a
completely seperate User ID. Not so in Windows XP.

Do you share computers? Or are the computers for seperate family
members? Example, if one family member is using a computer for one thing,
does another family member use a different computer, including you?

In other words, your Email Address is for example,
but the Screen Name showing to users is Traci or Trace, where the E-mail
Address, while a User can send you E-mails, by right-clicking on the
display name and clicking Send other.

Also sign in first. Now have your family member sign in one at a time on
a different computer. When you get knocked off, look at the E-mail Address
associated with his or her Windows Live Messenger Account and MSN Account.

Compare it to yours, in their profile.

Thank you!!! I re-signed in on his laptop on messenger and with his e-mail
address (not automatically) and it set up a whole new account. It works
great now! Thank You.
In answer to your questions, I use everyones computer - to check mail, etc.
when needed. Whoever isn't using theirs at the time. My husband & teenagers
each have their own laptop. I have a desktop - but who wants to go to the
office to use it?? ha-ha.
So thank you - after viewing profiles, etc. I figured it out with your
directions. you're a genius.
