Sleep and Hibernate aren't working

For some reason if I select Sleep or Hibernate, the system apprears to be
acting right, the screen goes into power saving mode, but suddenly it
launches Vista again (in Sleep - it just goes back to the logon scrren,
Hibernate - reboots and ends up in the logon screen).
I have a pretty powerful computer, with updated drivers. I heard it must be
related to the motherboard, but the drivers are updated and I have nothing
else to try.
My system:
Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4ghz)
2GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS
Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-DS3

I would appreciate your help in solving this annoying problem. I hate to
turn off my pc every time...
Thank you!

I now have a serious problem with my computer since I used the guide! I
changed in the BIOS from S1 to S3, and when I tried to go to sleep mode the
computer won't wake up!!
Please help, how do I make it to wake again?? Shutting down doesn't help,
the keyboard and mouse aren't responding and the restart button is non
responsive.

Please help!

Loadstone,

Press and hold the case Power button for a moment to see if it will
startup afterwards.

Do not mess around in the BIOS unless you know *exactly* what you're
doing.

Undo your changes in the BIOS.

For your first problem, find inspiration here:

Doing so didn't solve the problem. I had to manually unplug the power, and
then replug. Only then it resumed to Windows. Thanks

Thanks for the tips, but that didn't sort out the problem.
The Nvidia article seems irrelevant since the symptoms described do not fit
my case.

Hoping for other ideas...

Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.
