First try this. Make sure the monitor cord to the CPU is attached on on
tight. Is the ready light lit on the monitor?

Second, lets look at the CPU. Is the fan running? Are any lights on? If
not is it plugged in properly and does that socket have power? - Nothing
Yet?- Ok lets unplug the CPU. Let it sit that way for 10 minutes, Now
plug it back in. Listen to exactly what is does and note what might come on
the screen.

If that does not do it, please provide the answers to all those
questions.

BTW this is likely a problem for your hardware provider, like DELL or
Compaq etc.

Perform a normal shutdown. Allow the computer to reboot normally. If that
doesn't work, turn the computer off, remove the plug from the wall and
remove the battery pack. Wait about a minute. Then plug in the unit and
replace the battery pack. Try it again.

Joseph,

thanks for taking the time to look at my situation here. To answer
your questions....

The ready light i assume on the monitor is the light beside the power
button on the monitor and it is flashing green when i turn the computer
on. All the power for the cpu is good, all my fans light up and turn on
normally. The socket does have good power on both outlets. I am not
currently at home right now I am at my fathers place but going home soon
i will get my sister to unplug everything and leave it for 15 min or so
and then get her to plug it all back in and see what happens. When you
refer to the hardware provider what exactly do you mean?? its not a dell
or compaqe a friend of mine builds computers and we went down to
Computer Blvd. he picked out all the goods and he built it for me...

Just the other day had the same problem for the first time. Would not come
out of the sleep mode now matter what I did
Finally held the Power Switch button until the computer shutdown. Fired
it up and all I got was a high speed noise that sounded as if the fan was
going to have a heart attack. Shut the machine down again---waited a bit
and started up again
This time got the window that said there was an abnormal shutdown and how
do I want to continue the rest of the start
I chose to start windows normally, which it did. I did a Restart, that was
OK. Put the machine to Sleep and it woke up
OK (Depressing the Space Key)--Who knows what went Coo-coo, hope it's gone
for good

Did you check the signal cable between the monitor and the computer box
other than the power cable. Is it connected tight and are all the pins of
the interface ok? No bent no loose. Are you using a video card on one slot
instead of the onboard video port to connect your monitor? If so, is the
video card plugged tightly? You can also try safemode by pressing F8 after
the beep.
