Toshiba Satellite
320gb
4gb
64-Bit

Have all updates done. AVG clean, no ad-adware. Have startup programs
under msconfig down to what I need. sfc /scannow is done. System is
clean, nothing new installed. I've gone into my startup/shutdown
settings and they look normal.

However, now when I turn it on it will go the the microsoft page with
the horizontal bar on the bottom and then the screen goes black with a
still cursor at the top left. It sits like this for about 3 minutes. It
doesn't seem like you can hear the hard drive spinning during that time.

I've searched all over the place and it seems to be a very common
issue...BUT...there didn't seem to be any answers for the issue.

So, please let me know what you think and if I forgot any specs to of
listed.

I am no expert, but I do note you haven't said whether your computer does
boot up in the end. If it does, and you have backed up all your data, you
might consider first using system restore, if you can find a checkpoint from
before the time you first noticed the problem. If that doesn't work, you may
be faced with having to wipe the drive and reinstall everything.

If the machine doesn't boot up at all, then you may have a hardware issue. I
only hope that some other person who knows more than I do on this subject
notices this thread and responds.

I'm under "event viewer" now but I don't know what to click on. I hav
custom views, windows logs, application and service logs an
subscriptions on the left.

In the middle I have an overview with a summary of administrativ
events, recently viewed nodes and log summary

You say:

" I've searched all over the place and it seems to be a very common
issue...BUT...there didn't seem to be any answers for the issue. "

Please provide links to the search results you have.
That will save people suggesting the same thing again.
