Have had exactly the same thing happen to me. It was an automatic update SP2
on Windows XP Professional. Startup takes about 5 mins now where it used to
be fairly quick, My 2Mb Broadband reacts more like a dial up modem. Response
time to anything takes ages i.e. opening progs, copying, saving etc.
I would also like to know how to resolve this problem as it is quite
annoying to say the least.
I can understand that updates are required in order to get the best security
and all that, but sacrificing one thing for another should not be the answer!
I have run adaware, done a virus check, got rid of temp files, emptied trash
and so on but it's still the same.
Please advise
