Slow opening folders

Something recently happened to my workstation and I can't find a solution.

When I click on a network folder, it can take 15 seconds or more to open the
folder. It used to be almost instantaneous.

I have been having some problems and recently removed the sidebar to try to
improve performance. I am not sure if the two are related.

I have also been having problems with Panda virus protection. I removed
Panda, but the problem persisted.

Otherwise, everything is working well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is a strong possibility that you have a virus on your comp.
You say that there was a prob with Panda.

Install Avast Free 4 Home anti-virus, update it, then get it to scan your
hard drive in Safe Mode.

And only install 1 anti-virus on your comp.

I think this is the problem:

I have been getting the following error message:

Log Name: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7024
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: DT36
Description:
The Windows Search service terminated with service-specific error 2147749155
(0x80040D23).

Followed by:
The Windows Search Service is attempting to remove old catalog.

Is there something I can do to correct this problem?

The problem I am seeing is when my computer requests information from the
server. When I access a network drive, it will take 10-15 seconds to list
the contents. It used to be instant.

Otherwise, the workstation is still working very fast.

This must be a setting or something that because corrupted. I am recreating
the workstation index to see if that solves the problem. I don't think it
will because after I access the drive and get the information. I can then
close the window and ask for the same information, and it behaves as if it
never saw that information before and takes the same 10-15 seconds to open
the folder.

Also, when I open a network folder, the computer takes 5-10 seconds to
think, then slower reads the contents of the folder. You can watch the
green bar grow as it reads the data.

Also, there is no slow down from the server to the workstation. I can
access all data on the workstation with no problem or slow down at all.
