Slow Running Computer...

In January, when I bought my Dell Vista Premium Laptop, I would
run Norton and see there were over a thousand "things" cleaned or deleted.
Then the number exceeded ten thousand. Now, the first of March, the number
of files (?) scanned by Norton exceeds two-hundred thousand!!! I must believe
that this trend is contributing to my computer's slow-down. I run Norton and
Registry mechanic daily, to keep things tidy, and just downloaded Spybot
Search & Destroy today.
I have two questions: what is it that I am accumulating that
grows in such geometric proportions, that Norton scans? and, presuming this
may be the cause of my slow-down, how can I correct it? Muchas gracias!!!!!
-Sig PS: running 2 gigs & dual core AMD turion 64. Don't run any games, and
don't have any photos yet. No vid's.

probably just norton.

it causes problems for lots of people.

you need to run the special uninstaller from the norton web site to get rid of it.

install either avg or avast, both free and excellent virus programs.

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Avast is vista compatible.

Go to http://www.symantec.com to get the Norton uninstall tool, or put
in the

Norton disk, and select uninstall.

Thank you Sig,
I followed your suggestions and did install the new virus protection
software Avast
after using the Norton removel software.
I have decided to install windows XP on a new partition I just created and
revisit the vista problem later.
Greetings from Sydney

check the program running in the TRAY, Notification area .
select the properties of the ones you do not need running and check/uncheck the option for run/do not run at startup.

is a start.
