Slow startup of programs after update.

Every time I manually start up any program my computer starts loading, in
many cases it will do so for many minutes. During this time you are unable to
do anything but waiting. This occured after an automatic update from
windowsupdate of:
Validationtool Windows Genuine Advantage (KB892130) and Update for Windows
XP (KB936021).
I am currectly running Windows XP Home Edition.
Any help would be appreciated.
