Slow system response

My system has been acting strangely since I installed the last set of
updates. In Windows Explorer, when I click on a folder, it takes a few
seconds before it opens it. The same thing happens in IE 7 when I click on a
link or try to open a new tab. Could this be related to one of the recent
updates? It's annoying as hell.

I'm running XP SP2 on a laptop. It's affecting my entire system, so it's
got to be something with Windows.

I am having the same problems in Windows Vista Business eddition. Have you
found any sollution?

Here's a clue: If I connect to my company's VPN, the problem goes away.
Figure that one out!
