Slowness -- cured

Our Vista machine was very slow. I noted the disk light was on solid but
couldn't figure what process was referencing the disk continuously. I
turned off the virus scanner etc. There was a minimal version of Diskeeper
(defrag) installed by Lenovo (nee, IBM) but I couldn't figure how to disable
it.

In the end it turned out to be a soft disk error in a directory file.
Everytime a file was referenced, the machine would trip on the error. This
required writing a notice in at least one log file.
C:\Windows\Logs\OBD\OBD.log as I recall. It just kept filling and filling!
Upon fixing the error by running CHKDSK /r from a Repair Disk, things got a
lot better.

HI!
Your PC is slow, checked this:
a) your pc ram memory is short. add more ram in your pc.
b) clean your windows vista. Go to start menu > accessory > tools system >
disk clean
c) same way, you click defrag disk (ok, you don't like the windows defrag
disk, i have one free very good AUSLOGICS DISK DEFRAG)
d) clean the registry ( I have one good soft no free REGISTRY MECHANIC Pc
Tools)
e) clean internet explorer ( I have one good soft no free PRIVACY GUARDIAN
Pc Tools - clean all programs)
f) clean the registry of your antivirus, you have many reports
g) to clean of the bar of search

Don't buy anything form this guy - possibly a malware writer. Don't take his
free tools either--Trojans.

Vista have everything for software and hardware maintenance a user needs.
Just do a bit of research--you will find everything at MS websites. Let this
jerk starve with his sh*it.

Better still, get a fast PC by cleaning Vista off your PC and install
Ubuntu. Watch your PC really speed up!

Cheers.
