Smart Card Reader?

Hi,
Somebody any experience with it?

On my Vista - Premium HP DV9285ea it is working fine.

A friend of me has also a Vista - Premium (Medion from Aldi) but i cannot
fix it.
The SW-drivers are the same but when trying to access the reader it tells
"card reader not available" although the HW of "smart card reader" is
telling that the functioning is ok.
The HW of the USB-ports are the same as on my laptop..

Any advice is welcome, because i have really no idea where look...
