I am new to computer usage and am curious to know how to determine if an
entity is a trusted source on windows vista. what is safe and unsafe in
terms of my personal comuputer being remotely accessed is daunting to me and
really is confusing when i am interested in basic fun such as smiley
central.com!

Smiley Central should be avoided! Many of those "basic fun" sites will
put malware on your computer. Here are some useful websites to help you
stay safe online.

When you are running an inherently insecure toy operating system from
Microsoft, you can't really trust any sites. Any out there, can plant
malicious code on your computer. The latest attacks are through simple ads
from doubleclick that have been compromised. Simply going to a web page
that contains one of these can compromise a Windows computer. Sad, but
true.

Cheers.

That is just not true. In fact, by your own admission, you don't have
Vista installed do you. So you're only "hoping" what you say is true,
which it isn't so that's makes you a liar.
You are just another fukkin linux lovin lying troll.
Great! Now we all know what you are.
Get lost. You're not wanted nor needed in this ng.
Frank

Make sure you keep your Windows OS updated with all the security and
critical updates. If you haven't already, install a good antivirus program.
Scan your hard drive periodically for malware and viruses. Make sure your
firewall is turned on. I would also suggest you run behind a router. Also,
stay away from sites that offer you free screen savers and smiley faces
because usually they give you more than what you ask for. If you do all the
above you shouldn't have to worry very much.
