You have to have the complete mail server.
smtp.xxxx. com or smtp.xxxx.net or mail.xxxx.com.

Who is your ISP?
What is after the @ in your email address?

Hi,

Was it working previously? If so, it's likely that the mail server is down
or not acknowledging the sendmail request. If this is a new mail setup, then
recheck the sendmail settings under tools/accounts/server tab.

I think it's highly unlikely that the correct name of the smtp server
is "smtp." Check with your ISP and get the correct names from them,
for both the pop3 and smtp servers.
