Hi,
When I click on the C: drive in my explorer view I get all the
subfolders. However, instead of size and date modified I get album,
artist and rating info. For any individual sub folder I can right click
and change the customize properties to detail view, but for the C: drive
no such option is aviable. How can I change the view back to details?
How come after a year or so Vist decided to change this view?
thanks

Did you try right clicking the Column(s), and then choosing "More", if
necessary?

Right-click blank area of right pane where file listing appears, select
Customize this folder, then select All Items.

Do the second method here:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70...-settings.html

Unfortunately you'll also lose all your other customised folders.

VistaTaskPaneFix: Occasionally, folder's which do not display the 'Customize' tab in their Properties dialog will acquire the Music or Pictures template. This script allows you to reset the folders to use the 'All Items' template.

Refreshing to see it documented that Windows is broken. This is but
one of many, many places it is true. How embarrassing for the idiots
of Redmond to let a bug that goes back as least as far as XP REMAIN in
Vista unresolved.

Of course more experienced users of Windows over the years KNOW this
is stated Microsoft POLICY. They are often are well aware of "bugs"
but choose not to fix them, thus often annoying and frustrating their
customers, which obviously they don't give a damn about either.

Yes. This remains unresolved for years. I wish they provided with a GUI option to repair the Bags values, as folder contents sniffing goes wrong very often. IIRC, if there is only one file (of type "music") in a folder, windows sets a Music template for the folder/drive. Later on if the user adds mixed content to the folder, Windows does not update the template for the folder.
