For me, its not a problem with the validation tool, but how much time is
being wasted with constant updates and system resources all geared towards
"validation".
Windows is an operating system. You should be able to install an operating
system and then forget it. Productivity software is where the majority of
users time should be spent.
If XP, after 6 years(est.) of being on the market, still needs this constant
updating and validation, then I say far too much time is being spent by
computer users with this constant "tinkering" with the OS.
Someone needs to inform Microsoft that the purpose of the OS is to give
productivity software a stable platform to run on, not to consume user time
and system resources.
The direction Microsoft is heading guarentees I will not purchase WinVista,
as I am sure it will make the OS a larger gorilla than the current XP ape
has become.
If all MS software will require this constant verification, then this user
of Windows since ver 3.1 is headed to Linux. With Vista, will a special chip
need to be placed under the users skin for verification?
