Software configuration for a full memory dump under Vista?

Greetings,

I am trying to configure a MS Vista machine to perform a full memory dump in
case of necessity.

Usually, I have set this up via BIOS configuration, and I did read a couple
of posts regarding how to do this via the registry but they were for Windows
2002 and I was not sure they would apply to Vista.

Can this be done via Software for Vista? Thank you.

I think you would better ask this question in developers group.
If it's what you need, there is a standard setting in:
System Properties/Advanced Systems Settings/Startup and Recovery/Settings.
Choose "complete memory dump" from the drop down box.

If you are into some serious debugging, perhaps using a Virtual PC and VM
image of Vista might be educative. You can pause VM, Save State and do a
detailed examination of the VM.

Firstly configure your system to make a full dump in the event of a crash as
the previous poster explained.
Then set the registry key to allow you to perform a forced blue screen to
cause the memory dump. This is in the KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244139 -yes this still works on Vista

Mike,

Thank you for the response. I had seen the article you sent and will
configure accordingly for the force manual dump, but the previous post
indicated the base configuration.
