I am new to the Windows Vista Community and made some mistakes in my posting
yesterday. Maybe I can get it straight today! Could you please tell me if I
need to download software to prevent adware if I have Windows OneCare
installed on my computers, one with Vista and one with XP OS. Thanks a
million

Vista DEFENDER is keeping you safe. According to a known YOUTUBE video
(advertisment) it features DSL technology (doesnt catch sh!t)

Instead of using an OS that faces no danger, like MACOSX and LINUX, Windows
solution is for you to be runing 3 programs (antivirus, antispyware and
firewall) that have many services running all the time to keep you safe. Add
to the fact that Vista also takes up half your PC resources, that leaves you
with a small percentage of CPU and RAM to actually do work..

LOL

You are already running the best spyware/adware "Preventer" on earth.
Windows Defender is running on your system now, unless you turned it off.
You will find it on the Start menu. Built in to IE browser is "Protected
Mode", and a "Phishing Filter." One Care will add features to remove any
Virus you accidently install.

Anti-spyware/anti-adware is included in OneCare. Btw, Defender comes with
Vista as a stand-alone AS, and can be downloaded for free for those who own
genuine XP copies.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx

It is recommended to use two or more anti-spyware programs, since no single
one has a sufficient detection rate. The general idea is that one may catch
what the other(s) may miss. Head over to Eric Howes' excellent site for some
recommendations.

There are separate newsgroups/forums set up for OneCare, take a look at:

That's only because no ones uses them so of course the nasty little nerd
boys who think it's fun to write trojans don't attack them lol

CPU's and RAM are cheap. Just buy a powerful computer not those old 286's
you Linux nerds like to use lol

Windows Defender stops about 65% of spyware; very disappointing product from
MS.

Leave it running, but also install the programs below.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

For Spyware removal, use the above link to “Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.2”
Download it, install it, update it, immunize your system and scan your
System with it.

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/

For a non-scanning, but running in the background, Program to STOP Spyware
being downloaded to your Computer, use SpywareBlaster 4, available at the
above link.
