SoftwareDistribution\Download folder

Hello all

I am seeing multiple files that are listed in this folder that are showing
dates that are 2-3 years old! When I did a search of these files in the
registry, they don't show at all. Can these files be removed? Also, how can
these files show a modified date of 5-22-2006 when the start of windows
updates on the server wasn't until 11-29-2006?

Basically, is it safe to delete these old files? Also, how does one go about
doing that?
