If you get this and it says Service Temperarly Unaviable and you've done
EVERYTHING!!

Un/Re-installing it
Clearing Caches
Doing it on other user accounts

everything on the net, you have tried!

Well, I found a solution, and it works, I'm back on WLM2009 =]

To do this on Vista [all i know sorry]

IF YOU HAVN'T ALREADY: Goto Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features >
*Click* Windows Live Essentails and then Unistall and unistall Windows Live

After WLM has been removed then do this

1) Install Windows Live Messenger Beta 1 by clicking this
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ms...599524cd15c3a/

2) When you get to the part during the installation where you select
programs, make sure you only install Windows Live Messenger Beta and just
finish the installation.

3) When Windows Live Messenger Beta finally loads up, it should immediatly
say, or say after you try and sign in ''An Update is Avalible would you like
to update now?"

- Click YES and let it update a mini-window will open showing you it's
downloading the update, when promted, run it and just follow the
installation, it will look like the normal 2009 install program, when it's
finished it will ask you to Restart your PC so save all your work and click
'YES' restarting

4) After it restarts it should work fine, mine did ^_^

Enjoy!

Rawr Luke,

Can you check to see what version you actually got? They released a new version today and
I'd be interested to see if they tried to address this problem.

You can check your version by opening up any Messenger window, pressing the Alt key on the
keyboard, choosing the Help menu, then then choosing About Messenger.

The newest version released today is 14.0.8064.206. If this is the version you updated to,
then there should be no reason to install these older releases (which isn't recommended).

Do I have to uninstall and reinstall via the add/remove programs > live
essentials?

I have more components of the suite installed...

no easy way to just update- upgrade live messenger?

Hi,

No, just run the suite setup from http://download.live.com and it will update all the
components to the new versions.
