Solution for 98 IE6 hanging at download, related to printing error

Problem. Print or Print Preview in Internet Explorer 6 SP1 on Windows 98
results in this error:

Also manifests in popups not loading on the first try and in Windows Update
hanging at the download with no error messages or log. May be related to
occasional registry problems at boot.

Solution. None of the suggestions for similar script or printing problems
helped, even to reinstalling IE6 SP1 and replacing and reregistering several
script related dll's. But running System File Checker and allowing it to
replace the following 11 files solved the problem:

cryptnet.dll cryptext.dll cryptui.dll mscat32.dll mssign32.dll mssip32.dll
msobweb.dll msoss.dll rpcrt4.dll setupx.dll vdowave.drv

Not sure which were at fault.

Reinstalled IE6 SP1 once again and ran Windows Update afterward for good
measure.
