I am posting this for anyone with the problem of the updates that keep
wanting to install on Windows so that it may offer a resolution to the
problem. I did this last night and after one week of continuing want to
update and download from "windows update", it worked and the problem stopped.
I want to share this since I had the same headache with the same problem.

I browsed for a long time before I resolved
the problem. Make sure that you turn off your spyware and/or antivirus
program(s) before you start this process. Clear your history, cache and
files before you start. You can do this by going to the "Internet
Properties". After all cleared, go to "Run", type in "cmd.exe" without the
quotation marks. When the screen opens, type in "sfc scannow" without the
quotation marks and with a space between the sfc and scannow. Then type
"sfc/scannow" (no space between characters) without quotation marks. Windows
will begin the scan process and during the scan a somepoint, Windows will
ask for your Windows CD . Insert the Windows CD in the drive, click ok. This
will run for a while. After the scan is completely done, you will have to
reboot your computer. When your system comes back up, go to the Windows
update page and run an update.

This should resolve the problem. What the scan now program does is replace
or repair any corrupted filwes that may have occurred whenever. Let me know
if this worked for you at .

My Windows Updates secuirty (88 files) download kept on telling me I had
computer updates. When I clicked on the yellow shield, it would begin to
download the updates from Microsoft windows update page onto my computer. My
download would get hung up in the process and after 30-40 mins, a window from
MS Download update page would pop up and tell me that the downloads failed
(all 88 files). Again, these were the security files that Window needs for
functions. This would continue to happen every ten minutes and the yellow
shield would reappear.

I did work with a Microsoft Tech Support person, but the resolutions they
sent me up to before I did this procedure did not work. I will be sending
this solution to the MS individual I worked with for their records. Thanks PA
Bear for contacting me.

Windows version? Had you just reinstalled Windows? What resolutions did MS
Support "send you"?

(I didn't contact you, I replied to the newsgroup thread.)
