An alternative approach for those having problems with Windows Update.
Go to the MS SP2 page at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../winxpsp2.mspx
Choose the "Download and deploy SP2 for Multiple Computers". It's the full
Service Pac that works for all XP computers. It will take approx 15 minutes
to
download the 272,391kb file over broadband.
Once downloaded execute the file and it automatically installs on Pro and
Home. It only requires you to click the button to accept the End User
License Agreement and click next 2 or 3 times. Works great and has been
verified by MS and many other posters that it works. Very straight forward
and simple.
Reboot and you're good to go. The EXE file is the key for this upgrade, not
WU. So, if you are experiencing problems with WU or you just don't have
it yet this is a much simpler approach and its on your timetable rather than
MS's.
Then if you want you can burn the downloaded SP2 onto a CD for other
computers or friends.
