I can add a contact, but they always appear offline. This happens with some,
but not all contacts i add.

They can see mee though, and they can write to me, but when clicking the add
contact link in the conversationwindow nothing happens.

I can try to block a contact, but the blocked icon does not apear on the
contacts that are always offline. Though when i click on the person, it gives
me a menu where i can unblock the person. (though i don't see the blocked
icon on the person)

I have tried to delete som folders that MSN-live creates on startupp, but
that does not help, i have tried to update the regs
(http://jtsang.blogspot.com/2006/10/w...-with-add.html), but that didn't change it.

But nothings seems to work. I run Vista with newest msn live and msgplus.net
and have around 800 contacts on my msn.

Hi,

I think I'm having the same problem! 2 days ago, I signed into windows live
messenger (version 8.5) only to discover that more than half of my contacts
were removed from my contact list. I had changed nothing on my computer from
the previous day, I should note.
All of the contacts were all put into the "Non-instant messaging contacts"
group. When I tried to put them back into my normal list of messenger
contacts, nothing would happen. Also, my friends in the "non-instant
messaging contacts" list can still see if I am online and I can still
exchange messages with them (once they have messaged me first), but I can't
add them back as friends on my normal contact list.

I tried reinstalling live messenger and doing the registry update but
neither of those things worked.

If anyone has any help they can offer here I would really appreciate it!!!

Thanks,

Mike
