I run Windows Vista Starter. This problem started one day, with no noticeable
cause. Some programs like iTunes and GameSpy just won't connect, even though
I can perfectly surf with IE.
AVG shows that there is an update available, but it can't download it, I
have to do it manually (from the webpage).
Games, P2Ps, Windows Mail, MSN mesenger and others work fine.
I've looked for viruses and spyware, turned off Firewall and Defender and
the problem is still there. I don't think it's a problem of the ISP, because
other XP computers that use WiFi (with same router I use) don't have this
problem.
I know it's not a huge problem, but it's really annoying xD.

I'm having a similar problem, but it is a MAJOR problem for me since suddenly
several of my programs are also corrupt and I'm having issues in repairing
them for the same reason, yet I can surf the internet without problem using
both IE and Foxfire.

Have you tried reinstalling the applications? Are you running the latest
versions?

yep, I reinstalled iTunes and AVG and i still have the problem.
I did what you suggested to maryland, that thing of SMTHN /SCANNOW and it
said that I have some problems that couldn't be fixed. Do you think this may
have something to do with it?
