Some threat of Virus/Spyware. Please Help.

I have got a virus or spyware probably from the following website:
http://www.virprotect.com/?aff=1012

After using Malicious Software Removal tool even, I am unable to resolve the
problem.

Next to the watch in the tray a symbol appears same as Widows Security
Center - alternatingly Red with a X and Blue with a ?.....

After every 5-7 min interval a baloon appears saying System Alert! The idea
stated here is that System has detected lots of active spyware on your
computer and to resolve the problem click on the icon for anti-spyware
solution.

The icon leads to above mentioned site.

I also found a 3.11MB software downloaded on my computer. I removed this
using Add/Remove program.

Still the problem Persists. Could you please let me know how to resolve the
problem without formatting the system.

This has nothing to do with Windows Update.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
