Some Windows Updates Fail

Hi All:

My machine is running Win7 Pro. I have a strange problem in that, some
windows updates are installed while some others consistently fail. Allowing
the updates to be installed automatically or doing it manually seem to make
no difference. How can I fix this issue? Is this happening due to corruption
of registry values or something similar?

The machine has installed on it:
MS Office 2007
VS 2008
SQL Server 2008

TIA.

Vinay

Vinay,

Open Windows Update in Control Panel and click the 'Check for updates'
link in the left frame. Once the search for updates finishes, close
Windows Update.

Now click the Start orb > in the 'Search programs and files' field type in
windowsupdate.log

Under Programs, click on windowsupdate.log to open it.
Copy and paste at least the last 50 or so lines into your reply.
*Please* include this entry, which shows the client version installed,
even if it's not in the last 50 or lines:

2010-01-22 09:34:26:767 940 f94 Agent * WU client version 7.4.7600.226

Are you going to tell us which updates failed to install and the error(s)
associated with the failures or shall we just guess?
