Some WSUS errors

My WSUS reports some errors in event viewer:

1) Event ID 421 Category: Database
Description: Cannot connect to database. Reason=The user ('null') cannot
access to database. Reason= The user ('null') is not associate to a trusted
SQL connection. Connection string: Data Source=SERVER\WSUS;Initial
Catalog=SUSDB;Connection Timeout=60;Application Name=WSUS SQL
Connection;Trusted_Connection=Yes;Pooling='true'; Max Pool Size = 100
2) Event ID 386. Category: Sincronization
Description: Sincronization failed. Reason: Connection closed. Cannot
connect to remote server
3) Event ID 364. Category: Sincronization
Description: Impossible download the file. Reason: Cannot complete the
function

It's only one problem or it's three problems?
What's solutions??

Hi Stefano,

you are not alone. We get the event id 421 to. I have installed a frontent
WSUS at w2k3 without database and a remote database at a w2k3 with SQL2000
SP3a. (how described in Deploying Microsoft WSUS Appendix C).
But when i start the update service i get the event 421.
It seems, that the user couldn´t authorized at the database(see KB307002).
But i havn´t a solution yet.

Hi,

my WSUS Frontendserver is synchronazing. The Microsoft Description Deploying
..... Appendix C and also the WSUSWIKI didn´t work correct.
I´ve used following sequenz:

1. wsussetup /f on the frontend

2. wsussetup /b on the remote SQL-Server
add computeraccount of the frontend to the local group wsus-admins on the
sqlserver
SETSPN on the sqlserver, the sqlservice must use a domainaccount ! (this
wasn´t mentioned by microsoft, but it is necessary to authorize on the
sqlserver from the frontend, otherwise you get event 421)
I advise not to use the sqlscript from Appendix C!!!

3. edit the registry value SQLServername with your sqlservername
start IE and go to the WSUSADMIN page
adjust the options to store the updates locally
use WSUSUTIL to move the WSUSCONTENT-directory to your preferred location
(the sqldatabase is automatically updated with the settings)

4. use the server


to MVP´s: Please take care, that the SETSPN command will be mentioned in
Deploying WSUS... Appendix C
