I have windows vista home premium running on a Compaq Laptop. Since
yesterday something wierd is happening. Everytime I start my computer it
is running a CHKDSK. None of the Internet Browsers - Opera and Internet
Explorer 6- are working even though it is clearly connected to the
internet. I can download music and stuff and windows media player is
working but my browsers wont connect. It shows the explorer cannot
display the page thing. I tried to do a system restore thing but it says
my c drive is corrupted and is asking me to schedule a disk cleanup
thing the next time i start my computer. I did it several time but still
no dice. So do any of you guys know what the problem is and how to solve
it?

The first thing to do is back up your files somewhere besides on the C:
drive.

Contact Compaq support if the laptop is still under warranty.

You may have a failing hard drive so don't keep running chkdsk.
