Something took over my browser/homepage

I was surfing the net and I got a "malicious script" message. I shut down,
and when I returned, a program had taken over my home page. No matter what I
do, my home page reverts to this "Home search" web page with the web address
of "about:blank". It then prompts me to buy spyware removal programs. How do
I get this evil thing off my computer? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try downloading and running Spybot S & D from
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/Spybo...5.html?tag=pop.
Also run an updated antivirus program. Be advised that you may still have to
go into the Tools drop down menu and click on Internet Options. Under the
General tab, change the Home Page address back to your home page. This works
for Win 98, but I don't think the latest versions of Windows would be that
much different
