Sony Vaio 64bit won't support VPC?

My grandson has the Sony Vaio 64 bit with Vista as Host. He tried
installing VBOX as a starter for an Ubuntu guest which failed with an
error regarding VT-x and a setting in the BIOS. Sony told us they do
not support VPC of any type.

Is there a work around ??

They conveniently disabled that feature in the BIOS, there's a BIOS hack you
can find via Google I believe if you want to take the chance.

VirtualBox is not an MS product. There's a separate forum for that..
However, VBox like VPC7 does not require VT-x to run 32bit VMs.

64bit VMs require VT with VBox.

Sony seems to be pretty bad in this respect. They seem reluctant to
implement new options in the BIOS even though the CPU supports them.
