Sorting groups/categories the way I want them

My categories are sorted alphabetically. I'd like to have the categories
that I use most frequently at the top. I expected to be able to drag
them around to set the order I preferred, but apparently not.

Is there a way to do this, or do I need to resort to some creative renaming?

Hi,

You'll have to do the old adding numbers ritual I'm afraid. Just so we're clear on what that
means.

Friends becomes 1. Friends
Family becomes 2. Family
etc.

Yes, that was the despised "Creative Renaming" that I referred to. I
managed to move one category to the top, by using a leading 0X09 (tab)
character. Others were less successful.

Hi,

I knew someone who sent through most of the [US] keyboard symbols (~, !, @, #, $, %, etc.) to
do the same thing, so there's that too
