Hi,
I installed Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007, SP1 and then installed Windows 7 RC
on the VM.
I am getting an x with a red background on it on the speaker icon in the
lower right hand corner. When I put the mouse pointer on the speaker icon, I
get the following message: "No Audio Device is Installed".

What does this mean? Is there a way to correct it?

Thanks

When you first set up the VM, did you select Vista as the host OS in the
virtual machine wizard? You need to do that.

You don't need to reinstall Win7, just create a new VM and attach the old
hard drive to it, than when the new VM is created, uninstall the VM
Additions, and then reinstall them, or just install them if you haven't done
that before.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply.

I don't have Vista installed.
I purchased a Dell Vostro computer that was downgraded to Windows XP, SP3
and thats the operating system I've been using.

Do I need to have Vista installed for Windows 7 RC to run properly in
Virtual PC?

Everything else seems to be operating OK with Windows 7 RC installed on the
Virtual PC.

Thanks,
jslow

That's not what I meant, I just meant that when you set up the VM for
Windows 7 in VPC, you should select "Vista" as the OS choice in the
VPC wizard, that sets up things to be more compatible with Win7.
