sound , installation of XP

my windows media player is not giving any sound when I play any audio,or
video CD though no problem is whown any where in the screen.

While installing windows XP professional, it is not installed, the message
says that your window98 cannot be updated to XP.
can any one help me

Are you attempting to upgrade to Windows XP using an OEM CD?
Can not be done since OEM are designed for Clean Installation only and are
incapable of upgrading a previous OS.
Otherwise post back specifics of the error message.

As for sound, what operating system?
You should take the sound issue to a group specific to that operating
