Hi all,

This has been the first time I've turned on my laptop and have no usual
sounds; whenever a program is supposed to make a sound, like when someone
sends me an instant message, I hear a brief "beep" noise. When I tried to
open the volume control, it said, "There are no active mixer devices
available. This program will now close."
I don't know what it means!
Any help would be appreciated.

Im having the EXACT same issue with my pc. Worked fine one day, then all of a
sudden all my sound was gone with a similar error message. Ive noticed others
are having the issue as well, along with with the WGA errors, which I am also
getting. Im interested to find out what the problem/solution is.

I've had this problem 2 times now, the first time it seemed to work itself
out after a few days, don't know why. I've done lots to try and fix it.
I've untistalled my driver and installed it again, but to no avail.

Something is causing Sigma Tel C-MajorAudio driver. It won't start. No
rhyme or reason, nothing new was done. Just as Trisha and Kim said it just
happened out of the Blue.
Seems to me that Sigma Tel may not be a reliable driver to use...are there
others on the web that work?
Anyone with help?

You need to install the sound drivers.
Go to the website of the sound card/computer manufacturer and get the latest
sound drivers for your operating system.
