Greetings,
I'd recommend using Audacity for editing audio files. Works great with
Windows Vista as well, plus it's free. You can download it at
http://audacity.sourceforge.net. It comes with several (and I do mean
several) plugins and options, I use it frequently for recording and editing
audio, very stable software.
