Soundblaster Live! 24-bit Problems

Currently, with the most updated drivers from Windows Update and from
Creative's website, the sound that comes out of my computer is, what can only
be described as slow, and the tone oscillates. I have already checked
speaker connections and the like and this is not the issue. The sound issue
even seems to slow down things that depend on sound or must syncronize with
sound. The simplest example would be flash games on the internet. They
crawl at a couple frames per second and the sound is distorted in the above
fassion the entire time. Any suggestions? I have uninstalled and
reinstalled drivers, I disabled the HD audio device in the BIOS setup.

Some years back when I upgraded to Windows XP, my Soundblaster Live! was put
to pasture as incompatible.

Is your sound set up to use the correct sample rate? Open the 'Playback'
dvice and in the Advanced properties make sure it is using the correct
setting. I don't know if that is what is causing your playback issue and if
not could you try another soundcard to see if it's a compatability issue.

Creative does not support the Live! card under Vista, even though there are
drivers included in the box.

That said, there is this...
http://us.creative.com/support/downl...pe=0&x=31&y=14

But, judging by the original post, that may have already been tried.

Rick:
SB Live 24-bit is indeed supported by Creativelabs on both Vista x86 and x64
versions.
I have SB Live 24-bit working in 5.1 channels mode in my Vista x64
installation.
Drivers still provide basic functionality (i.e. no EAX) but they work
perfectly well even on games.
The same basic functionality is provided on most of Creative drivers
released Feb/March on their cards.
I am sorry that I cannot help the OP with his problems since I have had none.

I have SB Live 24 (integrated) and it has worked fine on Vista 32 + 6
since Vista Beta 2

However I did notice a problem with the drivers from the creative sit
(the new ones), so I went back to the Creative Beta drivers and the
updated the drivers through windows update. I havent had a problem wit
the sound since although it now calls itself a "SB audigy" but big deal

So your card should work - sorry if I cant be more specific as to wh
it won
