Hi
Can anyone help me upgrade SoundMax for Vista or could recommend
another good 5-1 speaker system sound driver for Vista?

I have SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio which isn't working properly
I have a Creative 5-1 speaker system but I'm only getting stereo
No amount of tweaking the settings is making any difference
I have the software on CD (got when I had XP), but Vista won't
recognise it
Tried to upgrade drivers for my Asus motherboard, but I'm getting
nowhere fast & goggle isn't making the job any easier

I run 64 bit Windows Vista Ultimate with SoundMax Integrated Digital HD
Audio. Driver is from Analog Devices version 6.10.2.5820 dated 4/11/2008.
Sound is fine.

Any particular reason you haven't simply visited Creative's support web
site to download the Vista-specific device drivers for your audio
controller (a chipset on the motherboard, in this case)? After all, you
can't expect the drivers designed for WinXP to work on Vista.

And since you've kept the specific model of motherboard a secret, no
one else can help, either.

Creative does not supply drivers for SoundMax audio. The OP should visit
the ASUS website to see if they provide a Vista supported driver.

Now, take that information, go to ASUS' website, and download the proper
SoundMax driver for your motherboard. Its easy to do, IF you truly want
to fix it all yourself. Ive done it several times, and I'm just a 63
year-old pothead. Just look for that motherboard. There will be a link
to drivers for it. Find the SoundMax Vista driver.

To educate you:
hardware is specific. It needs specific drivers made specifically for
each piece of hardware. YOU wont find alternative drivers for your
SoundMax sound chip. Only Asus provides them. Creative doesn't supply them

Also, when Vista was released, there was a change in sound card drivers.
Vista generally cannot use XP drivers.

Additionally, perhaps a few courses in Computer technology might help.

Other than that, we just cant help, seeing as how you are hundreds of
miles away from each of us.
