SP 1 Help

I have a compac laptop with Vista Home Basic and it has all updates
including SP 1. I also have a dell desktop with Vista Ultimate but cannot
get the SP 1 for this os.
Please let me know if the service pack is only for Vista Home and not for
Vista Ultimate.

SP1 is for ALL flavours of Vista.
Please be a bit more precise - what EXACTLY does "I cannot get the SP1 for
this os" mean? Include any error messages IN FULL please.

Its for all vista programs.

There may be a reason you haven't received it on the 2nd computer (Vista
Ultimate) - check
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows
Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates:

Many Dell computers are using audio drivers that are not compatible with
SP1. If you Google for Dell, audio, Vista, SP1, you should find links.
Depending on the audio on the computer, there are some alternate drivers
that are compatible.

To date, Dell has not officially released updated drivers for my XPS410
(same as Dimension 9200). I used drivers that are listed for another
computer, but are compatible.
