SP 2 After installation probs

The start menu does not work, can't open explorer, right
click to obtain properties, can't get to control panel,
can't shut down properly. Can open Word, QUicken and some
programs. Any ideas. Wished that we had not installed.
AOL instant messager may have been running in the
background at installation.

AOL and programs running, along with spyware and other malware, ie an
improperly prepared system is a good recipe for SP2 upgrade not working.

Remove SP2, hope it removes ok, properly prepare the system and try again:
