SP 2 and Explorer

After I load SP 2 into my computer I can not access Internet Explorer. It
won't even open. I get a message saying it has encountered an error and must
shut down. I've removed and reinstalled it several different times. The
same thing always happens. After SP2 is uninstalled I'm able to access
Explorer again, but my firewall is disabled and I can't restart it. HELP!
