SP 2 causing me not to have i

I updated my Microsoft Windows Home XP with Service Pack 2 and now I am
unable to get on the internet. I am using IE 6.0 and the states that ther
server is not available.
Error message : Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer

Also, I uninstalled Service Pack 2 and I am still blocked from getting on
line. I have tired using FireFox, and Netscape but it won't let me see any
sites; but I can ping using the run command.

Please advise, or make suggestions before I have to restore my entire
computer.
