OK-it's time for a little humble pie. Received SP-2 on CD, disabled McAfee,
disabled SBC-DSL pop-up blocker, crossed my fingers, and put in the CD.
Loaded with no problems, took about thirty minutes, all software functioning
normally. Took a little time to explore the new features that changed
(firewall, virus scan etc.), but that is to be expected. Windows update
appears to be back to normal. All in all, a success
story, makes up for the thirty days that it took to work up enough courage
after
reading all of the problems other people have experienced. Good luck!
