SP 2 update to XP Professional

Try to install his update and update log gives this error number

Microsoft Support tell me to "set up a web case as Windows XP on
www.microsoft.com/support" as they cannot assist because "until recently
Service
Pack 2 was supported by a separate team, it has unfortunately now been taken
over by our Windows XP Team and is considered a Windows XP Support Incident.
This is due to Service Pack 2 being released a year ago and all new versions
of Windows XP being released with Service Pack 2 preinstalled".

Sorry but totally confused........can anyone assist or tell me whether it
matters?!
