SP 2 wont install

I get an error after ive downloaded SP2 and says that the file
c:\windows\system32\ftp.exe is already in use by another program, and i
turned everything off and do the retry button still no avail, then says An
internal error occurred, then service pack 2 installation did not completei
had probs and reformatted this system and now i cant seem to get this solved,

Are you installing it off line, with no printers, scanners or cameras
connected?

ok, i found out i was hit with a virus win32.somthing and did a free virus
check and deleted the file and was able to install SP2 and things are
fine...this kinda freaked me out for a bit, but thats what i should have done
in the first place, but u might wanna tell others to do a virus check if they
get this same problem.

That has actually been said countless times regarding updates in general but
more specifically for a Service Pack Installation.

All Problems, known and unknown, should be resolved before installing
anything especially something as major as a Service pack.
